Clear your calendar - It's going down! The Emancipation Day festivities will take place on Saturday, April 13 and the parade will start at 2:00 PM at 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The concert kicks off at 3:00 PM and will feature an all-star lineup of some of the best artists in the game! The concert at Freedom Plaza will also feature many of DC's own homegrown talent. We are proud to announce that #EntertainDC is the recipient of (2) Emmy Awards at the 64th Capital Emmy Awards. The agency also received six (6) Tellys at the 43rd Annual Telly Awards. To improve the quality of life in District neighborhoods, DCRA has launched the Vacant-to-Visual Program, which will showcase local and regional artists of color who will transform vacant buildings into artistic sites.
The pilot program launched with five properties
and has plans to reach all 8 Wards. Artists will use trompe l'oeil decals, original art, and vibrant colored designs to beautify each property and improve the aesthetics of each neighborhood.
On Saturday, June 18, 2022, Dr. Angie M. Gates gave the commencement speech for the Duke Ellington School of the Arts graduation ceremony.
Dr. Gates congratulated the graduates and spoke about the importance of expanding educational opportunities in arts, media, production, and performance arts to support our next generation of creative entrepreneurs and the great work the Duke Ellington School of the Arts does to nurture and inspire their students.
She highlighted the programs and support Mayor Bowser has developed for the DC Creative Community through 202Creates and the Creative Affairs Office.
In closing, she spoke about the Five “F” Factors for success, “FAITH, FORGIVE, FOCUS, FORWARD, AND FINISH,” and the legacy they will create as they go out to build their future.

In May 2017, Lesley proudly opened the doors to The Lady Clipper Barber Shop, in the Historic U Street Corridor of Washington, DC, with a team of lady barbers, after 12 years in corporate America. Lesley decided to embark on a journey that would augment the blueprint of barber shop culture with her unique touch.

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Ray Whitehouse as our July 2021 Filmmakers of the Month!
Ray Whitehouse works at the intersection of documentary film and journalism. After growing up in Chicago, he lived in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Washington, D.C. He is currently directing his first feature-length documentary, A Run For More.
He served as the second unit DP on To The End , directed by Rachel Lears, which premiered at Sundance in 2022. Bring Them Home , a documentary short he co-directed and DP’d, premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
He’s worked as a cinematographer on more than 20 documentary features and filmed, produced and edited projects for The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME, and Univision, among others. He is community coordinator for the D.C. Chapter of Video Consortium and a regional co-chair of the Documentary Producers Alliance. He holds an M.A. in documentary journalism from UNC Chapel Hill and a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University. The core tenets of his practice are transparency, collaboration and critical reflexivity.

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Skyline 609 as the July 2022 Location of the Month!
Skyline 609 is a private event space for corporate meetings, cocktail parties, classes, retreats and other special events. This LEED-certified facility includes a 1,600 SF multi-purpose room plus an additional 3,000 SF outdoor terrace. Guests are wowed by clear, unparalleled views of Capitol Hill, and both spaces can be combined by opening our two 25’ power-assisted garage doors -- offering COVID-safety. Our indoor space accommodates 100 guests for cocktail events. The outdoor roof deck accommodated up to 150 for cocktail events. Both areas are furnished with mid-century inspired couches, chairs and occasional tables, and tables and chairs suitable for meetings and small seated dinners.
Film and video shoots are a perfect fit for the location, with clear views of the Capitol and NE/SE. With window or roof deck facing three directions, there are multiple views, allowing a single location to represent many.
The space is equipped with fast WiFi, a complete AV system with 10’ projection and 85” monitor, and indoor/outdoor speakers. The counter area features a bar sink, ice machine, mini-fridge, and access to kitchenware." Skyline has hosted film shoots for commercials, corporate videos, and short films.
